The Townsend Fish Skinner

 

This is a 1951 tool called a "Townsend Fish Skinner. Quick, Easy Way To Skin Any Fish." This metal fish skinner was made by Townsend Engineering Co., Des Moines, Iowa. Also included in the original box and instruction booklet. "Guaranteed to skin them all...smooth or scaly, large or small. Advertised in Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, and Sports Afield." The back of the booklet reads "There's no trick to skinning fish with a Townsend Fish Skinner. It operates as easily as a can opener. Removes the skin with the scales--without throwing a single scale. Does not tear flesh. Works equally well on fish with scales or scaleless fish.
