I'm looking for information/documation for Abigail Townsend and Oliver Sawyer in Harvard, MA in the early 1700s.

I have an "Intent to Marry" (dated Nov 26, 1763) and documentation of the births of their seven children - and possibly documentation of Oliver's birth (if I can verify that it's the same Oliver, but right now that's just a leap of faith)- but I can't find anything documenting Abigail's parents or other family (there's a lot in ancestry - including taking her line up to the 1200s in some cases, but with no actual documentation!)

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd sure appreciate it. I'm a tad overwhelmed cruising around all the resources on the website this morning!

I see the intentions were also recorded in Westborough where Abigail came from.  I would look closely at those records and also in the surrounding towns.  There were plenty of Thomas of Lynn descendants around.

The Nathan who married 3 years later was the s/o Joseph Townsend and Sarah Atwell.  I don't see an Abigail but sometimes births and other records were mysteriously missed.

It is also very possible she belongs to the William Townsend of Boston who md Penn line.  They are not a large family like Thomas of Lynn, but there are descendants.  If Oliver was born in Harvard his father would have to be Joseph as that is the only possible birth listed.  Do you have a will for Joseph Sawyer of Harvard?

There is that Sarah Townsend of Northborough who md. Joseph Sawyer in 1768 in Harvard.

There is a third Townsend family in MA that went up to Maine but I am not sure Abigail belongs to that one.

Mostly likely the Lynn family.  I would search the NEHGS website, if you don't subscribe it might be available in a library.  Familysearch has a lot of MA vital records on its site.
