There are two Townsend family groups that claim early ancestry in Kent, England.
 
One group of two is a Canadian of Australian background and an Australian.  Family records have three brothers John, William and Samuel arriving in Australia on or before July 4, 1842.
 
The second group of two men in England used DNA testing to confirm the belief that they were related.
